Sarah’s Story

Here is my two year old daughter, using a mask at the pediatrician for her bout with pneumonia long ago. She also had RSV, a respiratory virus that is very contagious in infants and can cause long-term effects like asthma and decreased lung function.

Her lungs are good now, as far as we know. But I don’t know what would happen if she ends up getting COVID, especially with her history and the family history of breathing and lung problems.

What I do know is that I’m not willing to take the risk that she will end up intubated and alone at the hospital if she got COVID.

I ask that our community, too, reduces this risk by staying home whenever possible and wearing masks when they must go out. If our children truly are our future, we need to do this for them, so they can have healthy, happy lives ahead of them.
